Communicatie School teaches non-violent communication through individual sessions and courses. Looking to expand their offering, they built a new website with an online course in non-violent communication. The client requested an updated logo and visuals to better reflect the service they provide. We developed a suitable color palette, logo and custom illustrations for each learning module in the course.

The colors selected use calm shades consistent with the calm approach needed in non-violent communication. The illustrations depict whimsical characters with plants, props and colorful shapes to maintain a playful and open-minded approach.

For the client’s updated logo, we incorporated 4 main colors from the neutral palette to show a variety of communication styles. We wanted to focus the visuals on the human side of the business. The circles represent people, and with the speech bubbles the figures are communicating with each other.

We used a round, friendly typeface (Quicksand) for approachability and clear legibility. The rounded lines in the main logo variation have breaks in the circle, inviting other figures in to join the communication circle. The text is rotated a little to encourage others to not think linearly; to challenge their usual way of thinking and open their minds to other forms of communication.

Additional website visuals were designed, along with supporting documents for the client to use when facilitating workshops in person.
