CLIMATE CHANGE // WATER

(2026)
Watercolor pencil on paper
150 x 115 cm
Inspired by Astrida Neimanis's concept of hydrofeminism, we are all bodies of water. When we view our relationship with the planet as a cycle facilitated through interconnected bodies of water, we view ourselves as part of this liquid circulation rather than isolated bodies.

Through this lens, we can begin to question: what do we give and what do we owe to these water systems? Climate change, just as colonialism, capitalism and heteronormative patriarchy, are all symptoms of human problems that the water archives: medication we expel into our toilets, chemicals trickling into our sewage depositories, pollutants evaporating into our clouds and dripping into our oceans.

Experiencing ourselves as we (all bodies), rather than mine or yours, allows us to address the webs of fluid exchange.
