Installation - receipts sprayed with perfume mist
As our society progresses from using paper and coins to credit/debit cards, we continually encourage needless consumerism. By swiping a little piece of plastic and typing a code in, we detach ourselves from the act of spending. When all we're left with is an optional piece of paper recording how much we spend, it's easy to buy unnecessary things just for the short-lived satisfaction. These receipts are sprayed with a simple mist, the water activating the ink to create splatters. The numbers and letters are obscured by the ink - the store remains a mystery, and the amount that's been spent could be anywhere from £1 to £100 per receipt.
