Artist Statement
Coming from a mixed Brazilian and Dutch background, my work is heavily influenced by identity, globalization, and hybrid cultures.
Closely linked to identity, I'm also interested in existential and psychological explorations; I'm curious about the human experience, how my own world view differs from the perspectives of others, how we can understand each other, where and how our identities take root from, and how this manifests in the way we live our lives and interact with others.
Through mixed media, each project I undertake explores a different material or method: video, photography, sculpture, illustration, or multi-media installation. I often introduce an element of interaction with the audience with my exhibitions or installation pieces.
