FOOD // CULTURE // MAGAZINE
Illustration
FOYER is an independent magazine exploring culture and identity from the point of view of people from diaspora communities, namely those of second-generation migrants and mixed-heritage backgrounds, and third-culture individuals.
For their 4th issue on Food, I created a series of illustrations for the magazine cover, back, and chapter headings. Each chapter is categorized as a different course in a menu. The concept in this illustration series was mixing two different origins, serving as a metaphor for the individuals with mixed cultural heritage that FOYER interviews. The mixing is visualized in many ways: different colors, different landscapes, different sprinkles, different sauces, different ingredients. All of them mixing and interspersing, adapted to elements and processes of food culture.
